Project Summary:
OSHA Condos is a thoughtfully designed residential project situated in the revitalized neighborhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montreal. The development encompasses six human-scaled buildings, each standing four stories tall, offering a diverse range of over 200 units, including condominiums and town-houses. The project emphasizes a harmonious community-centric living.
Architectural Vision:
The design of OSHA Condos focuses on flexibility and adaptability to cater to various lifestyle needs. The architectural concept allows for multiple configurations, including four-bedroom townhouses spanning two floors with ground-level terraces, units with one to three bedrooms featuring expansive terraces, and penthouses with mezzanines.
Key Features:
Exterior facades combine masonry and metal panels, with the coursive structure articulated in steel and guardrails, giving a light, transparent feel to the rear elevation. Warm wood tones and neutral masonry help the buildings integrate with both the historical context and newer developments.
Coursive Connectivity: A continuous rear coursive (exterior walkway) links all upper-level units and provides code-compliant secondary egress. This corridor becomes an integral part of the architectural ex-pression, contributing to the back facade’s rhythm and hierarchy. Its presence enables efficient fire escape, daylighting, and reduces reliance on internal circulation cores, allowing more area to be dedicated to livable space.
Sustainable Living: The development spans over 125,000 square feet, dedicating more than 20% of its area to green spaces, promoting an eco-friendly living environment. Moreover, the buildings are arranged to optimize natural light, frame green courtyards, and support a walkable internal layout.
